Cello - Mike D. From David Crowder Band Records Cello

Mike D. from the David Crowder Band records Cello using the PreSonus ADL 600. I can't tell from the video what brand of microphone is being used. (It looks like a Neumann) But it is a large diaphragm condenser microphone.

Bass Guitar - Recording

This week we have put together a video showing you how to record bass guitar using a Bass DI box. We will compare the sound quality between running the bass straight in through the mixer as well as going through the Bass DI. If you like this video please subscribe to our channel as we will have more videos soon. Also feel free to check out our site at www.limitless-studios.tk. Thank

Answer:
There is only one way I record the bass. It's not the only way, but it works.
For the big projects we always record the bed tracks first. The only tracks that are "keepers" is the bass and drums. We hook up a bass to a DI box and run that channel straight into a pre amp. This pre has 2 outputs ( balanced and unbalanced) The balanced goes to the sound card to be recorded, the unbalanced goes to the monitor mix. We are lucky to have a Grace 101 preamp, that gives a very clean "larger then life" sound. We use that setup for almost ever bass track, so to be honest I do not have too much experience in other signal chains. Besides the Grace, there is allot of pre amps that will do a great job.

Here is a rugget phantom powered D.I box that we use with every bass recording. For our bass sound we then plug the DI into a Grace 101.
Active Power Without Limits Contrary to passive DI boxes, the active Ultra-DI DI100 sets no limits regarding varying or mismatched impedance. How The signal is buffered by a high-quality amplifier. What does this mean to you? You get a clean, pure, powerful signal, which is immune to interference and therefore free of noise and hum - even with extremely long cables. The renowned Behringer OT-1 transformer ensures absolutely linear frequency response and ultra-low distortion, especially in the low end. The audio specifications speak for themselves: linear frequency response from 10 Hz to 50 kHz, S/N ratio of -102 dBu, and THD <0.005% at 1 kHz.

Your Ideas and Behringer's Energy: An Unbeatable Team
The Ultra-DI can be powered by your console's phantom power or an internal 9-V battery - the DI100 automatically switches between the two. The massive metal encasing and four rugged, oversized rubber corners keep it safe and reliable even under the toughest touring conditions. The rubber corners also allow you to stack several DI100's or place them on top of other gear without running the risk of ground loops. As you can see, Behringer has thought of everything.
